YSR Kapu Nestham Scheme for Financial Assistance to Women


 

In the female population, elderly women have to face financial problems as many of them are unable to earn a living easily. The YSR Kapu Nestham Scheme was launched specifically for the purpose of offering financial assistance to women. The Kapu community members were each given a sum of Rs. 15,000 every annum. These women members were 45 to 60 years in age. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, had shared that the approximate sum transferred was Rs. 354 crores. At least 2.36 lakh beneficiaries were covered.

 

Fulfilling Promises to Offer Financial Aid to Women

 

Moving a step further to financially help the women of the Kapu community, they were provided with a decent unencumbered amount in their accounts. It was expected that in a period of five years, women falling in the age group of 45-60 would receive at least Rs. 75,000.

 

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh had said that those who were eligible for receiving the amount would be benefitted within the duration of a month. In the coming month, on the same day, the sum will be provided to them. The benefits were given to lakhs of women in the last thirteen months.

 

Along with Kapu Nestham, schemes such as Vahana Mitra, Amma Vodi, Videsi Vidya, Vidya Deevena, and Vasati Deevena were also included. Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed that in case any beneficiaries were eligible but were not provided with the benefits of the initiative, the details for them could be received from the village secretariats. Thus, fresh applications could be registered.

 

As compared to the government that was previously functioning, the government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy has made and fulfilled promises. Believing in truly helping the women, this government has set another inspirational example.

The Andhra Pradesh government had taken many initiatives to offer financial aid to women to help them avoid difficulties. The YSR Kapu Nestham Scheme had helped lakhs of women and will continue to do the same. We believe that more such initiatives will be implemented by the government in the future.
